RiPPLE® decreases headaches, increases energy, decreases tooth pain.
The idea for RiPPLE originally started because of the need for a device to protect teeth while holding tooth position. After Dr. Magness was wearing Essix retainers to keep his teeth in proper position, he realized that he wasn’t sleeping well and was not feeling good through the day and evening. His biggest complaints were daytime tiredness and minor headaches. During that time, he was integrating jaw treatment into his practice. One day he and his staff were doing testing on muscle force when biting. Dr. Magness could not bite as hard as any of his female staff. From that, he realized his muscle system must be compromised and not working properly. As he had conversations with patients and saw their medical histories, he could see the need for people to feel better.
Next came sleep apnea. While studying sleep apnea, he realized the prevalence and the future prevalence was something that was going to become a major problem in our country. Sleep apnea is progressive, so let’s stop it before it happens, right? Also, upon talking to people with sleep apnea he noticed that those are the patients that have the most worn teeth. So damage must be happening when one is struggling to breathe. In stressful situations, like when our bodies don’t have enough oxygen, our natural tendencies are to clench or grind our teeth.
As Dr. Magness was having more conversations with the medical field doctors, he noticed that many patients were not getting the relief and the results they wanted. The medical and dental professions are not accustom to working together, are large gaps in the process. Dr. Magness had never had a medical doctor call him for a patient consult, it was always the other way. The health of the mouth is imperative for the body to be healthy. Without bring awareness to the medical field, our society will continue to be mislead and confused. The medical profession has codes like “fatigue” and “headache”, that are considered a diagnosis code, but are really a symptom of an un-diagnosed condition.
As he studied more diseases, he noticed the alarming rates of these conditions. Our genetics haven’t changed that much in the last 20-30 years. Something we are doing is creating all these health issues. We as humans are not this defective. Then all of his effort went into studying sleep. That’s when his eyes were opened to what could be. Sleep is critical to be able to withstand the hectic lifestyle we have created here in America. Without good sleep, we fall apart. Anyone will, no matter what their situation. Unfortunately, we as a country have gotten into a cycle we can’t break unless we have the proper support or situation to get us out of the cycle. This ability to get out of this should not just be for the lucky few.
So then, what about a device that can protect the teeth, retain the teeth in a proper position, lessen the force to our jaw joint and muscles to improve sleep, and open up the airway to increase oxygen into our body and decrease or eliminate snoring and sleep apnea that almost all Americans could get? That’s the RiPPLE!
